RICHARD HOROWITZ, MD, F.A.C.P., (he/him) is board certified in internal medicine and has been a clinical faculty member of the Department of Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles since 1991. Dr. Horowitz received his medical degree from Université François Rabelais in Tours, France in 1983. He completed a fellowship in reproductive immunology at Institut Louis Pasteur in Paris and was Chief Medical Resident of internal medicine at New York’s Mount Sinai City Hospital until 1986. He has been the Chairman and member of Executive Committees at several Los Angeles hospitals, in addition to his academic appointment as an Assistant Professor of. Medicine at UCLA Center for Health Sciences, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Wadsworth Veterans Administration Medical Center. GARY J. ALTER, MD., (he/him) is one of only three physicians in the United States who is an ABMS board certified diplomate of both urology and plastic surgery. He is in the private practice of plastic and reconstructive surgery with a specialty in genital reconstruction, chest contouring, and a full range of Gender Confirming Surgeries. Dr. Alter obtained his MD degree from UCLA in 1973 and finished his urology training in 1979 at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. After practicing urology for ten years, he entered a plastic surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He completed this residency in June of 1992 and took a fellowship in genital plastic reconstructive surgery at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia. HARRISON H. LEE, MD, DMD, FACS, (he/him) specializes in Facial Gender Confirmation Surgery (FGCS), osteoplasty, facial implants, reconstructive and elective facial cosmetic surgery procedures. Dr. Lee is a graduate of the dental program at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, as well as a graduate of the four-year program in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He served as assistant clinical professor at New York University College of Dentistry and obtained his MD from New York Medical College. DAN H. KARASIC, MD., Professor Emeritus, Psychiatry, UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences (he/him) has been a UCSF professor since 1991, and opened a telepsychiatry private practice in 2020. He received his M.D. from Yale University and trained in psychiatry at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute. In addition to having much experience treating patients with a wide range of concerns, including depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, OCD, ADHD, and substance use disorders, he has taught medical students and trained psychiatric residents on providing this care, with an emphasis on evidence based treatments, but also a holistic approach to wellness beyond medication, and cultural humility in patient care. Dr. Karasic (he/him/his) created and led transgender health programs, and provided care for people with HIV and other medical illnesses, and has done research on treatment of depression. He authored many articles and book chapters, and edited the book, Sexual and Gender Diagnoses of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM): He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, current Chair of the APA Workgroup on Gender Dysphoria, a past president of the Association of LGBTQ+ Psychiatrists, and recipient of the 2012 UCSF Chancellor’s Leadership Award for LGBT Health.
